I use old, unwanted garments and textiles and make somethig new and funny out of it.
A lot of material gets thrown away, because people got bored of it.
I am giving it a longer life by making it less boring or creating new things out of it.

The name "S.U.S." is inspired by the International Morse code distress signal.

It's an expression of the urgency of the topic (because textile production is like a catastrophy for this planet).

It also has a humurous, playful and careless meaning: shut up seriousness! Because I believe in the power of play and cheerfulness in everything we do, simple things as well as difficult ones.

All too often funny, simple and good ideas are nipped in the bud, because the serious side of life doesn't allow them to happen (or is said to not allow them, because really, the serious side of life is not always that much of a spoiler).

In addition to that, it is a short part of the word „sustainability“, which of course a lot of us don't want to hear or mention any more, due to it's excessive use, but still plays a very important role in my design-thinking.

Speeking of playing: I insist, that my collections and products are not only made for children, but also for mature humans, who mostly believe, that they lost the ability to play somewhere on the way to their work lives.
No way.

So shut up seriousness, whenever you are unnecessary!
But keep in mind, that the world needs some changes, and it is easy to start with a little less grimness.






My name is Luise Wonneberger. I am a textile designer.

I was born in 1988 and grew up in Leipzig.
After finishing my Abitur I spent some pointless but very insightful months in Canada.

In 2008 I started studying textile design at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle.
I spent one semester in Tallinn, Estonia in 2011, studied in the department of design for playing and learning in Halle after that and got a child in 2012.

In 2015 I finished my BA in textile design with a textile recycling design concept (see also http://www.luisewonneberger.de/klima.html).

Since 2015 I live in Leipzig and start my career as a freelance textile designer. The main topics in my work are sustainability (mainly recycling) and playful design.
